The New England Chapter of the ICAA Announces the Winners of the 2026 Bulfinch Awards

The ICAA New England Chapter announced the 2026 Bulfinch Award winners, recognizing excellence in classical and traditional architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, craftsmanship, preservation, and related arts.

95 projects were submitted and judged by a three-person jury.
14 categories were awarded, including residential, commercial, institutional, landscape, interiors, craftsmanship, and student work.
Notable winners include Patrick Ahearn Architect, DeOrsay Campbell Smith Architects, Schafer & Company, Hendricks Churchill, Harrison Design, and others.
The awards celebrate the continuing influence of classical and traditional design in New England.
Winners will be honored at a gala on November 14, 2026, at the Harvard Club of Boston.
The Bulfinch Awards have been presented annually since 2010 by the nonprofit Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA).

Boston, Massachusetts, September 16, 2026 — The New England Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Bulfinch Awards, now in its 15th year. The annual Bulfinch Awards recognize excellence in classical and traditional architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, craftsmanship, preservation, and the allied arts throughout New England. The Chapter invited submissions from firms throughout New England and across the country for projects located within the New England region. The 2026 jury, composed of David Netto of David Netto Design, John Margolis, formerly of Appleton Partners, and Samuel “Mac” White of Michael G. Imber Architects, selected this year’s winning projects from 95 entries.

The Bulfinch Awards are presented annually by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art New England Chapter and recognize practitioners committed to excellence in the classical tradition and allied arts within New England.

Eligible projects build upon the legacy of Boston’s early Federal architect Charles Bulfinch, widely regarded as the first native-born American to work professionally in the field of architecture.

Established in 2010, the Bulfinch Awards celebrate the enduring relevance of classical and traditional principles in contemporary architecture, design, craftsmanship, and preservation.

The 2026 Bulfinch Award winners will be honored at a reception and dinner gala on Saturday, November 14, at 6:00 p.m. in Harvard Hall at the Harvard Club of Boston, designed by Parker, Thomas & Rice.

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is a nonprofit membership organization committed to advancing the practice, understanding, and appreciation of classical and traditional design. Through education, publications, awards, lectures, travel programs, and other initiatives, the ICAA supports practitioners, students, and the public in engaging with the classical tradition and its continuing relevance today. Headquartered in New York City, the ICAA has regional chapters throughout the United States. Its publications include the academic journal Classicist as well as the acclaimed book series called the Classical America Series in Art and Architecture.
