With the curves there’s a little bit of a mystery.” — Anthony Pisani, Pisani + Associates Architects. Evergreen Gallery, Lincoln. Contemporary design asks more of a builder. We join projects during design development, where construction expertise shapes what gets drawn rather than reacting to it, and details that look effortless on paper get resolved before they become issues in the field.

Our contemporary work includes a Carlisle house designed to radiate from a single point on its site, with only three right angles in the plan; a 6,995-square-foot Lincoln home with floating staircases and a geothermal system, which received an Honor Award for Design Excellence from the Boston Society of Architects; and a residence above Boston Common where wine storage and a fabricated metal partition fit a lifetime of collections into 2,150 square feet.

We build and restore traditional houses too. Boston Magazine named Merz Best of Boston Home for High-End Remodeling, and a Concord pool house received a Silver PRISM Award for Outdoor Living from the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston.

Every completed home comes with a homeowner’s manual containing as-built documentation, warranty information, specifications and a maintenance schedule, backed by a dedicated maintenance team.

Our work has been published in Modern Home Builders, New England Home, Boston Magazine and the Boston Globe Magazine, and on the cover of the Boston Design Guide.
