Salt Air & City Roots
This coastal Massachusetts home designed for a California-based family thoughtfully bridges past and present, blending classic New England character with subtle influences drawn from life in New York City. Led by NICHE architecture + interiors, Lewis Vaughn Interiors, and Costello Fine Homes, the renovation sought to create a residence that honors the homeowners’ East Coast roots while supporting the way their family lives and gathers today.
Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the interiors feature a light and inviting palette of coastal hues, natural textures, tailored millwork, and carefully curated details that evoke a sense of place. Throughout the home, personalized design moments, including custom built-ins, meaningful wallcoverings, and understated references to New York City, create a narrative that feels both sophisticated and deeply personal.
Outside, extensive architectural updates revitalized the property’s appearance, introducing classic shingle-style elements that strengthen its connection to the New England coastline. Together, the architecture, interiors, and craftsmanship create a home that feels timeless yet distinctly individual. More than a summer getaway, the residence serves as a meaningful link between two coasts, celebrating family history while providing a welcoming backdrop for new traditions and memories in the years ahead.
