 A classically-inspired riverfront build is infused with playful, personalized design.

After years of coastal crossings, Marjorie and Brad Hooper found their perfect homesite along Cape Cod’s tranquil Bass River. Partnering with McPhee Associates of Cape Cod—who handled the architectural and construction design—the Hoopers created a new home that honors traditional Cape style while embracing refined, contemporary comfort. Marjorie led the interior design in collaboration with McPhee, blending antiques, bespoke furnishings, and whimsical details into warm, light-filled spaces framed by river views. Classic features like coffered ceilings, tongue and groove paneling, and a brick veneer foundation lend soul and authenticity, while thoughtful touches—from chinoiserie wallpaper in the laundry room to a heron mural in the powder bath—add personal charm. Outside, Executive Landscaping tied the home to its setting with curated plantings and sightlines that celebrate the home’s historic detailing.
