S+H Construction: Building Forward

With a broadened scope of services and a recent leadership transition, S+H strengthens its foundation for continued success.

As S+H Construction charts its course for their newest chapter, the Belmont-based, award-winning residential construction firm is embracing growth and strategic leadership to meet the evolving needs of its clients and the industry. With a broadened scope of services and a recent leadership transition, the company is more focused than ever on its mission: to elevate quality of living through exceptional craftsmanship and service.

The recent promotion of longtime team member Edward Sullivan to President and the transition of Owner Sarah Lawson to Chair strengthens S+H’s foundation for continued success. This leadership change symbolizes more than a passing of the torch—it marks a renewed commitment to collaboration, client service, and forward-thinking construction practices.

“I want to make sure we have happy employees—it’s a good feeling,” says Sullivan. “The goal is to keep pushing forward the culture that Sarah has laid out for us. It’s a recipe for success.”

Sullivan’s leadership is already shaping the next chapter. Having joined S+H in 2007 and grown through the ranks with a deep understanding of project management and client needs, he brings a blend of practical experience, empathy, and vision to his new role. His focus is on empowering the team, supporting internal growth, and ensuring that the company stays responsive to the needs of both tenured and new clients.

As Chair, Lawson will shift her focus outward by strengthening relationships with architects, clients, and design partners, while continuing to guide the firm’s strategic direction—a key objective since she acquired S+H in 2016. “I have always loved the transformative power of good design and good building. It changes people’s lives,” says Lawson.

One clear example of this vision in action is the continued development of S+H’s Small Works and Home Management Division, led by Tony Casapulla. Designed to meet the specific needs of smaller-scale projects and ongoing property maintenance, the division reflects the company’s willingness to rethink the traditional construction model.

“We realized that small jobs require a different approach,” Lawson explains. “We wanted to make sure that we were specializing in those needs.”

This initiative, along with services ranging from custom builds to historic renovations, waterproofing, landscaping, and hardscaping, allows S+H to support clients across the lifecycle of their homes. This wide range of services offers an approach centered in responsiveness and long-term relationships, and not just the completion of a project.

S+H’s future is one of continued excellence, driven by team development, client-first thinking, and a culture that embraces change. “I’m so proud of the whole group because everybody has to be great to keep things running as smoothly as they are,” says Lawson. “It’s unbelievable seeing it from the outside when you’re used to being right in the middle of it all.”

With new leadership, expanding capabilities, and a strong vision for the years ahead, S+H Construction exemplifies a modern residential construction firm that is always ready for what’s next.
