Project Manager Converts to Company Owner

Doug Hanna and Alex Slive started S+H Construction in 1979, just “two guys with a pickup,” as they put it. They worked in the field with their employees for many years, learning vital skills, and how to work with architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and employees.
In the last few years, the partners have been building a transition into new chapters of their lives. They considered four options for their beloved company: lock the doors, sell to an outside buyer, sell to a group of employees, or sell to an inside buyer. With their legacy at stake, Hanna and Slive agreed that shutting down the company was not an option. They wanted to save their employees' jobs, as well as maintain stability during the transition of ownership.
After much contemplation and many meetings, the answer was right in front of them. A project manager at S+H Construction for almost 10 years, Sarah Lawson, was the person they were looking for to carry on the company. With this change, the company was able to keep 60 jobs stable, preserve the legacy of what Hanna and Slive created, and hand ownership over to a strong, experienced and intelligent manager. Hanna and Slive are proud to be Lawson's new employees!
