Pantone Color of the Year 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity
Pantone for the first time ever has chosen two colors as the color of the year. For 2016 they chose Rose Quartz (Pantone 13-1520) and Serenity (Pantone 15-3919).
The two colors come at a time when balance and tranquility have become important factors in every day life. The Pantone website states that with modern stresses, these welcoming colors are designed in a way to fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security.

The Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eiseman explains that these colors “demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

These calming tones work beautifully in various materials and finishes. Whether it’s soft or hard surface materials or matte, metallic or glossy finishes; the colors are soft and appealing to the eye.
If you’re not ready to make a major commitment to the colors, above are some options for décor accents that will keep your home on trend.
Pair Rose Quartz and Serenity with mid-tones like greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. See the Pantone website for additional ideas for color pairings.
