Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders Wins a Chatham Preservation Award

Cape Cod Builder/Architect Polhemus Savery DaSilva Wins Chatham Preservation Award

Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders (PSD), a fully integrated architecture, construction, landscape architecture and property services firm, was honored with a Chatham Preservation Award on May 19th at the Wayside Inn. This award, sponsored jointly by the Town of Chatham Historical Commission, the Town of Chatham Historic Business District Commission and The Chatham Historical Society, is given to local projects for a broad range of preservation activities. PSD received this distinction for their noteworthy work on the renovation of a Greek revival home on Cross Street. PSD revitalized a historic home that was built in 1837 by Sea Captain Enoch H. Howes and his wife, Patia (Patience), daughter of Captain Joseph Atwood, and was passed down through the generations until 1964.

Hired by the current homeowners, who acquired the property in 2003, PSD kept the original character of this house by adding a modern floor plan that complemented its rustic, time-tested charm. John DaSilva (pictured above, with Sharon DaSilva) says it best, "restoring a home with such historical significance is a rewarding experience and a testament to the owners’ thoughtful stewardship.” Since the Chatham Preservation Awards’ inception in 2004, 12 PSD projects have been recognized.
