Cummings Architects, together with Clarke Associates, LLC, transformed a boxy, lackluster ’80s construction on Gloucester’s coveted Eastern Point into a beautiful vision in blue. Unlike its predecessor, the “new and improved” home is heavy on character, decidedly fresh, and yet very much in keeping with the architectural traditions of this envied North Shore locale.
The design team channeled the hues of the sea and sky when cladding the gracious Shingle-style home a dusty cornflower blue and gave it a gracious bearing—complete with custom trim and swooping gables—suited to its magnificent oceanfront setting.
The interiors are just as striking, and feature timeless living spaces conceived to take full advantage of the home’s front-row seat to the Atlantic. The home unites family-friendly functionality and elegant details with a restful flow.
Public and private realms are now blessed with sweeping views, with most rooms featuring decks and balconies that embrace the sea and salt air.
This renovation nabbed a Gold Prism Award, as well as the Gold Master Design Award, 2017.
