For the first time at IMM and Maison & Object, Ligne Roset’s 2013 Collection was featured. Ligne Roset is the renowned French furniture and lifestyle company. They have a Boston showroom located at 200 Boylston Street. The collection has an urban chic feel and sense of usability with natural woods, interesting textures and a color scheme of many muted shades.
Below are some of the new product highlights in seating lighting, cabinetry, tables, accessories, and outdoor by new and established designers:
Seating
Toshiyuki Kita, the renowned Japanese designer, created @Chair, a unique take on comfort and style. @Chair supports good posture in a comfortable manner with the option to recline or swing the attached footrest around at any angle. He also introduced @Servant a rolling tray to perfectly accompany the reclining armchair.
Nils by Didier Gomez is a timeless collection of sofas and chairs. Its simplicity is offset by the sophistication of the seams giving each piece a casual elegance. Gomez designed Nils with with comfort in mind, made with foam and goose down throughout.
Nathan Wong designed a new seating collection called Elizabeth, sofas and armchairs with structures of black stained ash with comfortable cushions in mixed fabrics and colors.
Lighting
The Container By table lamp by Benjamin Hubert is two ceramic pieces held together by a contrasting silicon band in either pink or blue. Luna Rossa by Antonio Sironi is a very large (31 inch diameter) LED pendant lamp with an industrial look accomplished by hand-rusting the exterior. Cil by Benjamin Faure uses a hidden strip of LEDs to shine light on a wall in a unique way. It can be used with its base as a floor lamp or attached directly to a wall.
Cabinetry
Et cetera by Pagnon & Pelhaître is a vertically built and completely customizable cabinetry system that fits any space. Optional features include bookcases; hinged, glass swivel and sliding doors; glass shelves; lift-up flaps; drawers; TV sets and lighting. Frame available in white, clay or elephant silk lacquer finish. Wood sections available in black stained or natural oak in two looks: smooth or rough sawn.
Tables & Desks
Philippine Lemaire designed the Itisy table as four connected and overlapping circular tables that rotate to create new shapes and uses including a dining table, desk, long table and more. The Litho desk by Thibault Desombre plays with asymmetry through colors and textures.
Accessories
Nubo by GamFratesi is a decorative upholstered wall box that opens into a desk with protected storage and cord management. Suspended by a leather strap, Vanity Shelf by Outofstock is a hanging mirror and storage shelf in contrasting shapes. The height of each can be adjusted by balancing a different part of the strap on the hook. Lace by Benjamin Graindorge, a footrest, extra seat or even to hold a tray, is inspired by Japanese wrappings as evidenced by the rope threaded around the base.
Outdoor
Extending its popular outdoor line of furniture, Sous Mon Arbre lamp by Florian Brillet can sit on a table as a lantern of sorts, hang on its metal stand treated for outdoor conditions or hook onto a tree branch to light any garden or terrace. Dögg & Arnved Design Studio created a dining chair version of the award-winning Fifty armchair. Its signature look is created by wrapping cord around a metal frame.
Young Designers
For the fifth year, Cinna (a part of the Ligne Roset brand in Europe) hosts a contest for young designers and brings the winners’ product designs to market around the world. This year’s winning designers and designs that will be coming to the US are Julien Cedolin’s Hamok bedside table with storage, Arthur Hoffner’s Ring My Bell ceramic table lamp and Claire Baudrimont & Pierre-Yves Le Sonn’s Recoin corner shelf.
