Jeff Soderbergh Sustainable Furnishings & Fine Art Opening Celebration Dec. 7

Jeff Soderbergh Sustainable Furnishings & Fine Art Grand Opening in Portsmouth, RI

Jeff Soderbergh Sustainable Furnishings & Fine Art is celebrating the grand opening of a new studio and showroom in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, December 7. Stop in from 3-6pm for holiday bites and sips (including a sushi truck if you get there early!), and see the realization of a dream 20 years in the making. Custom furniture maker and sustainable artist Jeff Soderbergh shares that he had been eyeing this exact building that is now his headquarters for decades; he was drawn to “the wonderful old building with fantastic bones” that sits just about 80 feet from the water.

It is an optimal site for the artist and upcycler in that it was built from reclaimed beams from an old mill (“probably in Fall River or New Bedford”) and boasts a beautiful street-front showroom, a large workshop with a loading dock, and a few offices. The 5,000-square-foot industrial space showcases a wide variety of Soderbergh’s own creations—from benches and cabinets to beds and dining tables—alongside the fine art (paintings, photographs, sculpture, prints and lighting fixtures) of other sustainable artists. That winning formula, which is also the case for his Wellfleet gallery, reflects the company’s ethos, and allows patrons to view “beautiful sculpture, painting, lighting fixtures and furniture all in one place,” he says.

The new studio and showroom is just one hour from Boston and easily accessible from New York and Connecticut. It is open year-round, Monday-Friday. Soderbergh also has a gallery in Wellfleet, Mass., which is open eight months of the year.
