The American pianist, singer-songwriter, and composer is a noted New Yorker and supporter of the Yankees and Mets. As he performed all his hits such as “Allentown”, “Movin’ Out” and “Big Shot” inside the Red Sox’s home, you knew baseball would be mentioned!

Joel performed a bit of “Sweet Caroline”, “Take Me Out to The Ballgame”, and surprised fans with a guest performance from 13-year-old singer Emma Stanganelli for “Boston State of Mind.”

Joel told the audience before bringing out Stanganelli, “Being from New York we know how you feel after what happened in Boston and I just want to say our hearts are with you. This next song, I usually do this with different words, but we’re going to do it a special way tonight.”

Changing up the lyrics to the famous “New York State of Mind”, the crowd was cheering, as everything from Mike’s Pastry to Buzzards Bay was included in the song.
