BDG: What does the term "design build" mean to you, and what makes your firm different from other architecture or interior design firms?

Peter Feinmann: We have been offering design build to our clients for more than 20 years. We believe that the design build model provides the highest level of customer service, design services and building excellence for our clients. The relationships we have with our clients, starting with architectural design, allows us to work collaboratively, listening and understanding our client's needs and using our proven process to completely satisfy them. Last year, we received the highest distinction for customer service from our third party survey company, Guild Quality.

BDG: How would you describe your firm's signature style?

Peter Feinmann: There is no particular Feinmann style. Each project tells its own story, a narrative guided by the home's style, client preferences, and the designer's talent. However, our projects have been designed in many styles – traditional, transitional and modern. We have done projects with Asian influences and restoration projects on historic homes where the outer envelope can't be changed.

BDG: What is your favorite kind of project to work on?

Peter Feinmann: Right now kitchens are a particular focus for us as the hub of the home. Lifestyles have evolved over the past couple of decades and our design solutions reflect these changes. Our team has enjoyed working with new technology, materials and appliances available to meet our clients' needs.

BDG: Can you elaborate on what you've been doing in the fields of sustainable design and aging in place?

Peter Feinmann: We have always been on the forefront of technological changes, especially in energy efficiency. For example, we were using Icynene foam insulation before it became an industry standard. Our team keeps updated on the latest industry trends and standards.

One of our project managers has been earning certification as an Aging in Place Specialist. We have created projects- especially in bathrooms- without thresholds which could be considered disabled-accesssible. We also have our Home Crew division, and some of our work focuses on helping our older clients stay in their homes for as long as possible.
