With nice weather on its way, why not create an outdoor living space to enjoy the sun, warmth, and blooming flowers?
One approach: furnish your terrace, patio, or porch with comfortable, weather-resistant chairs. Adding throw pillows gives the outdoor space an extra comfort element, and makes you feel like you’re curling up on your living room sofa. Except, of course, the beautiful surrounding outdoor scenery.
The spaces below look and feel like outdoor living rooms. Arrange seating to facilitate conversation and incorporate a small coffee table for drinks and appetizers.

While you’re at it, bring the kitchen outside too! By incorporating a grill or cooktop, dinner parties can turn into garden parties, and you can enjoy good food while soaking up the sunny days and balmy nights.
The grill below is beautifully incorporated into a curved stone counter that encompasses half the patio edge. The space is perfect for hosting dinner parties or even buffet-style barbecues and block parties.

If you’re concerned about the rain or (gasp) lingering snow, try creating an indoor/outdoor space that can be easily transformed from chilly spring days to balmy early-summer evenings.
The pool house below is entirely covered, but has large doors that can be opened to let in the beautiful weather. The perfect answer to the not-quite-cold, not-quite-warm weather that plagues springtime in New England. It's complete with both an indoor and outdoor fireplace to keep warm on chilly nights.

A similar approach is taken with the covered patio below. A sturdy roof covers a beautiful dining area complete with a hanging chandelier. The area is complete with a wood stove, grill, and ample cooking space.
Finally, the indoor porch below can easily transition from cold to warm weather. Large open windows let in warmth and sunlight, and a roof keeps rain at bay. Interior designers on the project, Wilson Kelsey Design, added French doors to open the room up to the kitchen - allowing sunlight to shine into the remodeled kitchen.
