A specially adapted smart home, through the R.I.S.E. program at the Gary Sinise Foundation

This specially adapted smart home is the first of its kind in New England and among a growing number of custom new residences built for severely wounded service members who have sacrificed for our country. Nautical blue and white entryway designed by SLC Interiors
We pledge allegiance to spaces and styles that celebrate the all-American motifs. The featured designs incorporate stars or stripes or both, giving a nod to Old Glory. Whether subtle, as in the crisp Nantucket entryway (shown above) conceived by SLC Interiors, where a set of constellations suspended from a midnight-blue ceiling softly illuminate a space that points all to the beach, or more overt...
Great room by the water by Sherman Associates
Labor Day is upon us, which means that vacation homes will soon be at capacity as owners and their houseguests come by car, plane and ferry to celebrate the best of the extended, if bittersweet, weekend. To honor this more-the-merrier outlook, we showcase eight gorgeous great rooms. The following come-hither open-plan living spaces are where the action is—at least, when revelers aren’t on the...
Waterfront Deck

Instead of feeling wistful, we’re bottling these feel-good scenes created by New England’s finest architects, builders and designers, and basking in snapshots of their...
High-end breezeway design
Breezeways are an enlightened architectural feature. They add beauty and visual interest and create cohesion between the structures of a property. They can add significant curb appeal by providing a glimpse of the property you wouldn’t otherwise see on the approach, and, in this age of clean-air living, separate garages and carriage houses and any fumes emitted there from the main living quarters...
